How To Prepare For Eyebrow Microblading
Eyebrow microblading is a semi-permanent procedure that gives you the appearance of perfect eyebrows in a matter of minutes. During microblading, the technician will deposit a specialized ink on the surface of the skin. Microblading is not a tattoo because the ink will eventually and naturally fade. If your microblading appointment is scheduled, here are a few simple things you can do to prepare.
Determine If You Are a Good Candidate
Before you even schedule an appointment, talk to the technician to determine if you are a good candidate for microblading. For example, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should not schedule a microblading appointment. Here are a few other instances when microblading is not recommended:
- You are sick with a sinus infection, the flu, or another short-term illness
- You have Epilepsy
- You have Diabetes
- You are an active Accutane user
- You are under 18
- You have a pacemaker or have had an organ transplant
Additionally, if you are undergoing chemotherapy or have had issues with keloid scarring in the past, you should avoid microblading.
Avoid Strenuous Activity
Take it easy for several hours before your appointment. Do not exercise or do any heavy lifting; if you have a strenuous, labor-intensive job, take the day off. The rise in your body temperature will cause your pores to open to eliminate the excess heat from your body. This can impact the effectiveness of the procedure.
Additionally, sweat is rich in salt, and the sweat and salt can actually make the ink used in microblading fade prematurely.
Stop Taking Certain Medications
Microblading is minimally invasive, but because there is a needle being used to deposit ink into the upper layers of your skin, you may experience some bleeding. Your technician will recommend stopping certain medications before the appointment. For example, stop taking aspirin, fish oil, and vitamin E supplements.
Also, stop taking prescription blood thinners before the procedure. Always consult with your doctor before you stop taking any medications. All of the above-mentioned medications and supplements thin the blood and can lead to excessive bleeding during your appointment.
Stay Out of Direct Sunlight
Steer clear of direct sunlight and stay out of tanning beds for several days or weeks before your appointment. If you are sunburned or very tan, your technician might deposit too much pigment into your eyebrows. When the burn or tan fades, your eyebrows can look too dark and unnatural.
From staying out of the sun to avoiding vigorous exercise, there are several things you need to do to prepare for your microblading appointment. To learn more about microblading, call a provider, such as Sarah Oliver Art.
